چکیده

We study the topology of moduli spaces of polygons with xed side lengths in the Euclidean plane. We establish a duality between the spaces of marked Euclidean polygons with xed side lengths and marked convex Euclidean polygons with prescribed angles. 1. We consider the space P n of all polygons with n distinguished vertices in the Euclidean plane E 2 whose sides have nonnegative length allowing all possible degenerations of the polygons except of the degeneration of the polygon to a point. Two polygons are identiied if there exists an orientation preserving similarity of the complex plane C = E 2 which sends vertices of one polygon to vertices of another one. We shall denote the edges of the n-gon P by: e 1

Spatial Analysis in curved spaces with Non-Euclidean Geometry

The ultimate goal of spatial information, both as part of technology and as science, is to answer questions and issues related to space, place, and location. Therefore, geometry is widely used for description, storage, and analysis. Undoubtedly, one of the most essential features of spatial information is geometric features, and one of the most obvious types of analysis is the geometric type an...

On the Symplectic Volume of the Moduli Space of Spherical and Euclidean Polygons

In this paper, we study the symplectic volume of the moduli space of polygons by using Witten’s formula. We propose to use this volume as a measure for the flexibility of a polygon with fixed side-lengths. The main result of our is that among all the polygons with fixed perimeter in S or E the regular one is the most flexible and that among all the spherical polygons the regular one with side-l...

Liouville-Arnold integrability of the pentagram map on closed polygons

The pentagram map is a discrete dynamical system defined on the moduli space of polygons in the projective plane. This map has recently attracted a considerable interest, mostly because its connection to a number of different domains, such as: classical projective geometry, algebraic combinatorics, moduli spaces, cluster algebras and integrable systems. Integrability of the pentagram map was co...

In this paper, certain natural and elementary polygonal objects in Euclidean space, the stable polygons, are introduced, and the novel moduli spaces Mr,ε of stable polygons are constructed as complex analytic spaces. These new moduli spaces are shown to be projective and isomorphic to the moduli space M0,n of the Deligne-Mumford stable curves of genus 0. Built into the structures of stable poly...

On the Volume of Unbounded Polyhedra in the Hyperbolic Space

In the Euclidean plane the definition of the area of the polygon harmonizes well with intuition, since by the decomposition theorem of Farkas Bolyai [2] two polygons of the same area can be decomposed into pairwise congruent polygons. The definition of the measure of an unbounded polyhedron in twoand in three-dimensional Euclidean space [7] is likewise well-founded, since we obtain an inner cha...
